1st Light [Video]

[A very young looking girl bundled up in winter clothing manages to turn on the video function of the pokégear, both her and a Golett looking at it curiously from either side.]

I think it's on.

[She pauses for a moment before speaking again. The Golett makes a curious sound and turns to look at her.]

There's so many people here. And animals too.

It's nice.

[She smiles a bit at the screen. She's obviously at least somewhat pleased by this turn of events.]

Could anyone tell me a bit more about this place?

[Well, uh, he's still not quite sure - but he's gonna try, of course.
Because that's the sort of guy he is.]

Well, there's not many dangerous things, I guess? I haven't been ambushed, at the very least.

It just seems like the thing that'd happen in a new, mysterious country?

It does, it does. If not cold. But it was a lot different at home!

[[Page is seated on a bench in Goldenrod City when the message pops up over the feed; another new person, and a young one at that. Eager to help, she smiles into the camera.]]

What would you like to know?

You have a Pokemon, then?

[[Page smiles at the Golett appearing on the screen, her Kangaskhan appearing behind her to peer over her shoulder.]]

That's a good name; this is Harper. She was the first Pokemon I got in Johto.

[[Beaming, the Kangaskhan waves into the camera, almost taking up the complete view.]]

You're in a place called Johto! It's a region, I think it's an island? In this world. I'm not really sure what the world is called.

Anyways, they have these really cute animals-! [ She turns the feed to her Zubat, Woobat and Sunkern. The woobat seems to be holding Sunkern down as it chirps, in a somewhat panicked tone. ] They're called pokémon and you're sent here to raise them and do something with them that involves teeth! [ ....Her theories for team rocket are unusual, to say the least. ]

Yep! They are cute! And you are supposed to make them battle, but, I don't think it's necessary. You can do just fine without battling. My pokémon want to get stronger with me, so I'm willing to foster them and battle with them! You can also breed them and do other things, too!

Well, that's just how they work. They gain experience through fighting and somehow unlock new techniques...

At least if they get injured, they're usually instantly healed in the pokémon center.

Uu-, this is a cute place where weird things happen and you can be a Nokemon master!

That depends on what you want to know. I could just toss you a link to my guide, but it's pretty wordy, and for all I know, it might not all be relevant to you.

But I think the key factoid you need to know is that most people catch Pokémon, battle them, and try to train the toughest teams around.
islandshore: (startled)

video

[personal profile] islandshore 2012-12-20 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
But battles don't hurt them. It's how they mature and become stronger.

[Man, that kinda mentality's so counterproductive here.]
islandshore: (unsure)

[personal profile] islandshore 2012-12-20 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I've trained Pokémon for years now, and they don't have a problem with it. Right, Flare?

[He turns the camera towards a very large Charizard who blinks and then, after a moment, nods. Yeah, no. He wouldn't have gotten this strong if he hadn't battled.]
