[Ushio turns on the video feed and smiles brightly. She looks a bit worn out, but very happy at the same time. Her hair is also blowing about in the wind.]

We did it!

[She pans the feed down to show an aerial view of Violet City. So apparently it isn't the wind, Ushio's just flying about on the back of her Altaria.]

This is really wonderful.

[Hello cutie. The aerial view of Violet looks pretty amazing in Madoka's opinion, but let's face it - she thinks the same about most things everywhere.

And those are some great news. She claps her hands together in excitement.]

Thanks. I've always wondered what it would be like...to be able to fly.

I wonder about it too in a world like this, but I'll have a long way to go before I'll find out. Is it fun flying with your Pokémon?

It might seem long, but I think it's worth the wait. It's very fun, it makes me feel so free.

Aoi enjoys it too.

[Her Altaria coos from offscreen, apparently in agreement.]

If we meet before you're able to do it yourself, I'm sure she'll let you ride her.

Ah, I don't mind the waiting at all. My Togepi needs to grow a lot before we can fly together, so I'll train him while I'm waiting for it. Freedom sounds like a nice feeling. [Not that she isn't free all the time, but being free on the sky sounds so much different.]

It's great to see you both enjoying it so much. [Cheerful chuckle to Aoi.]

Really? Thank you, I'd love to try flying on her too. Um, is Aoi an Altaria?

It'll make travelling a bit faster, at least. Togepi...that's one of those little egg pokemon, right?

Mmm, I'd have to get the gym badges first, but that will take time too... Yes, Togepis are those little egg pokemons.

[and then I accidentally asked the wrong question, because I was supposed to ask about its species and not that... Time for excuses, uh, I could always say that she's heard their beautiful voice / seen one on a random NPC somewhere before. DX ... /so much fail and flail everytime there's an Altaria around.]

So, she's the same as Mami-san's Swablu will be once she evolves. They are very pretty.

They're definitely a challenge, but if you have enough determination, then anything is possible.

I think they're cute, but I haven't gotten one yet. Maybe I'll look for one next time I go to the Breeding Center.

Mmhm. Their wings are so soft, too.

Um, I don't think I have enough determination to face them right now, or any time soon... But I have my friends traveling with me, I'm sure they'll help!

Oh, they have them there too? Mine's from a breeder, but I took a Skitty from the Breeding Centre.

I love their wings, they're so pretty too. Just like cotton candy!

I'm sure just having your friends to cheer you on will give you the boost you need.

[she'll get a sad smile.] Don't worry, rushing things is the last thing I want to do. Hopefully I won't make people wait for too long either, that's another bad option even if it is better than doing things on a whim.

Flying is really amazing. I never knew how big the world was until I saw it from the sky.

It does seem so much bigger.

And you realize how small everything you've seen on the ground really is.

It's kind of a humbling experience, isn't it?

I don't know what "humbling" means.

It means you don't feel as big or important.

I've never felt big or important. I'm just another animal like all of the other animals around me. I'm not special just because I'm a human.

Everyone feels like there's something important about them at some point.

Even me. Even if I can't remember why.

I guess the thing that I've thought was most important about me is that I'm the one who has to protect Grandpa's forest.

Is his forest a special place to you?

It's where I've lived for as long as I can remember. When he died, he left me with his wish to protect the forest. That's what I've been doing ever since.

[For someone talking about the death of a family member, he's showing surprisingly little emotion.]

I have no memory of my family or friends. If I even had any. Even so, I feel like I was supposed to be doing something important.

It was an easy victory this time. Falkner was pretty surprised, too. I think we might head back to Goldenrod or Azalea from here. Or would you like us to wait for you?

[On the ground, meanwhile, Clem is watching the feed and having her excitement for Ushio's win compounded by the view she's getting.]

Whoa... [She looks up and scans the sky for a few seconds, trying to spot Ushio and Aoi - but then, Aoi is blue and cloud already - and she looks back at the camera.]

...Are you scared, a little? That's really high...

Not really. It's actually really fun.

[ - Wait was that an offer? Her eyes go wide.] ...Could I?

Yeah. I'm sure Aoi wouldn't mind.

[She looks up at the sky once again, then down again at the 'Gear. She still couldn't even spot an Altaria, coming down to land or not, and her heart still gives a hard thump and a cool feeling breezes through her head at picturing herself with that view.]

...Now?

Sure.

[And sure enough within moments, Aoi and Ushio come soaring downwards quickly, but slow down and land safely. She giggles a little as she hops off the Altaria's back.]

[And now Clementine is unmistakably excited. She smiles in a friendly and shared happiness-bearing way - Ushio doesn't look as if it was any less than a fantastic ride!

She stands, takes a few steps over, hesitates towards Aoi -] -- ...You're sure it's okay?

Of course it's okay. Isn't that right, Aoi?

[The Altaria coos in response and lowers her wings.]

See?

[Clementine looks back to Ushio, smiling a nervous smile, which she then directs again to Aoi. She takes a few steps closer, enough to set a hand on her back and pet with one ginger stroke, and then looks back to Ushio again.]

Is... there anything that I have to know to do?

[That is, both for Aoi's comfort and her own safety!]

Not really, just don't grip her too tight or anything like that.

[Ushio pets Aoi's head and starts talking to her.]

Listen to Clementine for a little bit, okay?

[She turns back to Aoi and nods.]

Okay.

[And then she tautens up to board without pulling or kicking, as much as she can, taking it as a chance to suck in a nervous breath - and then leans forward and tries to slip onto the Altaria's back.

She gets in place, resting a hand on either side of the base of Aoi's neck, looking dead ahead into nothing really for a few seconds - she tries to feel the rush in her heard and her brain as an amusing tickle. As if she hadn't already done things at least as dangerous as this - things that weren't even fun at the same time, as this ought to be; she was about to be taken by a giant cloud-bird on an aerial ride!

Another smile twitches into her face, and she at Aoi again, then Ushio.]

Ready...!

[Ushio grins at Clementine and takes a few steps back.]

Alright, Aoi. Use Fly and give Clementine a fun, safe ride.

[And with just a few powerful wingbeats, the Altaria calls out and carries Clementine up into the sky! She seems to be taking it slowly, not wanting to frighten the young girl on her back. Occasionally she'll do a little dip or dive just to spice things up a little, though.

Meanwhile, Ushio's watching from the ground, smiling up at them.]
